Supreme HD Brake Fluid Dot 4

Supreme HD Brake Fluid Dot 4

Performance
Levels

SAE J 1703 (CURRENT) FMVSS 116 DOT 4.

Market
Application

Comet DOT 4 Supreme Heavy Duty brake fluid is suitable for use in all automobile and commercial hydraulic brake and clutch systems, except 'WET BRAKES' where mineral oil based brake fluids are used. Comet DOT 4 is compatible with all other brake fluids meeting the SAE,DOT specifications.Supreme HD Brake Fluid Dot 4 (Colorless) However it exceeds the requirements of SAE J 1703 hence 'TOPPING UP' by other brake fluid meeting only SAE J 1703 specification should be avoided, whereas, Comet DOT 4 can be used for topping up all other brake fluids.

Product
Description

Comet DOT 4 brake fluid is a synthetic straw colored fluid of mixed polyalkylene ether type. The ERBP is controlled between 250-260C and is compatible with all metals usually used in brake systems. Furthermore, it provides outstanding lubricity, anti-wear, anti-corrosion and anti-seal swell.

Major Typical
Characteristics

DOT 4
Equilibrium Reflux Boiling Point (ERBP) C 250-260
'WET' Equilibrium Reflux Boiling Point (ERBP) C min155
Kinematic Viscosity @ -40C cst max1500
Kinematic Viscosity @ 100C cst max1.5
pH Value 7-11.5

Water Contamination

Precautions
Brake fluids are very hygroscopic in nature and therefore 1% water contamination can drop the ERBP by 10-50C creating a possibility of failure of brake systems due to vapour locks. Such contamination can occur within 12 months of service irrespective of the distance travelled by the vehicle. In the view of this, it is strongly recommended that the brake fluid in the system be changed every year

Mineral Oil
Contamination

Contamination of brake fluids with mineral oil could be disastrous, causing seal deterioration and eventual brake failure. To avoid this, the containers used for filling or topping up should be absolutely clean and never for any other purpose.
